Failure to do so may result in your docker image suffering corruption at a later time. Ironically, I've had bad luck replacing one drive when the mirror fails in my cache - again probably due to my cheap drives! Twice not, the second drive has failed as soon as I replace the 1st - therefor losing all the data on the cache. Thankfully, I took a backup of the cache first, but both times it was a pain to restore.I added my new drive to the existing cache pool, then changed the raid type under the cache pool settings to be raid 1, let the balance complete then removed my old cache drive, went back into the cache pool settings and changed it back to raid 0. Initiate mover to move files off cache and on to array. Shut down the server, remove the drive. Insert new drive, spin up array. Set new drive to be a cache, set all shares back to use cache: yes. Set system and appdata to cache: prefer to move files to cache from array. Initiate mover, wait for it to finish. your cache should be already in a compatible format. so adding it to your array should just work. just assign your old cache to the data pool. and assign your new drive as cache. then just copy over using midnight commander in terminalUnRaid OS will run on a flash thumb drive. Actually after booting it will run in RAM. I recommend you to search for good flash drives, plenty research on the topic on YouTube. Yes, 1tb of cache is a lot. That is probably mostly because of the way docker is integrated into unraid and the way templates are built. They put all the persistent data in an appdata folder, with only occasional other data placed elsewhere but always in a folder on either a cache drive or the array.
BEFORE re-enabling Docker in the Settings (after cache disk replacement) -. copy the (manual) backup of your docker.img file that came from the old cache drive (made BEFORE its removal) to the new cache disk. (from where ever you placed it on the array to the /mnt/cache/system/docker directory), THEN re-enable Docker.unRAID's cache drive is a storage tier.
